A Short Description of Handpaint Yarns
I buy most of my handpaint yarns from small cottage-industry artists. Handpaint yarns are yarns that are individually produced by a fiber artist using a variety of techniques, including brushes, spray bottles or dipping in synthetic or natural dyes. The technique used depends on the type of effect the artist is looking for in the finished product. The process is from start to finish by hand. You will only find this type of yarn in high-end yarn shops or direct from the fiber artist. I prefer buying direct from an artist as it enables me to create beautiful and collectible fashions at affordable prices. Some artists have set colorways, meaning that they can be ordered. However, due to the nature of handpaint yarns there is never an exact duplicate.
